BJP woman leader stripped naked, dragged and thrashed in West Bengal, creating a new political uproar

Kolkata: A case of a 32 year old woman being stripped and beaten has come to light in Cooch Behar, West Bengal. This has started a new political uproar. BJP claims that the victim is the Vice President of Minority Front of the party. BJP has written a letter to the National Human Rights Commission asking it to send its team to the state to investigate the incident. Whereas TMC has accused BJP of doing narrow politics. Police say that an attempt is being made to make the matter communal by giving wrong information. Whereas it was a family dispute.

In the complaint lodged by the victim’s father, it has been said that neighbors attacked his daughter due to a long-standing family dispute. There was a dispute going on with the neighbor for a long time. The victim’s father said in the complaint, “They started abusing my daughter.” After this, they dragged him by the hair, stripped him naked and beat him.

After this he was threatened and left on the road. He has not named any political party in his complaint. However, he later told reporters that his daughter was attacked because she was a BJP worker.

At the MJN Hospital in Cooch Behar, the victim told that TMC women stripped her naked and tried to drown her in water. He said that if he does not join TMC, he will be harassed more. When I became unconscious I was released. They have been targeting me since June 4th. Police say that four people including three women have been arrested. The victim’s brother-in-law has also been arrested for taking photographs and spreading rumours.

Police said it was being wrongly propagated that the woman was stripped and beaten and there was a political motive behind it. Efforts are being made to give communal and political color to the incident. Police said that there was an earlier fight between the victim and the women of the village due to some dispute. The victim’s clothes were torn due to the scuffle.

BJP leader Shubhendu Adhikari said that such an incident is like a stigma in a civilized society. The local police refused to register the complaint. Later, after the intervention of SP, a complaint was registered. The police arrested a relative of the victim whose name was not even in the FIR. State Women and Child Development Minister Shashi Panja said that BJP has resorted to narrow politics. The people of West Bengal have rejected it. They should do such politics which will benefit the state.
