Ahmedabad: A BJP MLA from Gujarat stirred controversy on Monday by claiming that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose belonged to an “aatankwadi” (terrorist) wing. He apologised while attributing the error to the poor translation.
According to MLA Yogesh R Patel (Bapji), an error occurred when translating from English to Gujarati, resulting in the incorrect wording being shared on social media.
Bose was a member of the Aatankwadi Pankh (wing), according to a post Patel made on his Facebook page in Gujarati on his birth anniversary. He was a prominent member of Congress who took part in the civil disobedience movement and promoted socialist policies.
The Anand MLA promptly deleted the message after some people informed him of his word choice.
Gujarat AAP president Isudan Gadhvi said, “I condemn the BJP MLA Yogeshbhai for making Subhash Chandra Bose a terrorist.” “Deleting the post is not enough; if he had shared by mistake, Patel must tender a public apology,” Patel said in his remark, “wrong words were posted due to an error in translation from English to Gujarati.”
