BJP’s ‘Sufi Samvad Maha Abhiyaan’ Initiative: Connecting with Community Leaders for Inclusive Governance

During a gathering at the party office, U.P. BJP chief Bhupendra Chaudhary emphasized the BJP’s commitment to inclusive governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the party’s dedication to reaching every section of society, irrespective of caste or community, ensuring that the most marginalized individuals benefit from government programs.

The objective of the ‘Sufi Samvad Maha Abhiyaan’ is to ensure that government policies are accessible to everyone. To achieve this, the party has appointed representatives, including an in-charge and co-in-charges, for the Sufi campaign in all districts. These representatives will engage with decision-makers, known as mutawallis or caretakers, of the approximately 10,000 mosques and mausoleums in the state.

Jamal Siddiqui, the chief of the party’s minority wing, emphasized that the focus is not on political affiliations but on creating awareness about government policies among the community’s faith leaders. These leaders, including clerics, play a significant role in the community and are beyond party politics. By informing them about the various measures undertaken by BJP governments to assist different sections of society, the party aims to build a deeper understanding of its policies.

Siddiqui pointed out that many mausoleums, such as the dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti at Ajmer and Barabanki’s Dewa Sharif, attract visitors from diverse backgrounds. By engaging with the decision-makers of these places, the BJP intends to extend the reach of its policies, particularly those designed to support the underprivileged. The inclusive nature of Sufism, emphasizing spiritual introspection and unity with the Almighty, aligns with the BJP’s goal of creating awareness among a wider audience.

At the meeting, U.P. minister Danish Ansari, BJP’s U.P. minority wing chief Basit Ali, and campaign organizer Syed Ehtesham Al Huda were also present, demonstrating the party’s commitment to fostering meaningful connections within the community.
