Blast in Pakistan kills three

ISLAMABAD: According to the media reports, minimum of three policemen, including an officer, were killed and six others injured in a bomb blast in Pakistan’s southwest city of Quetta.

According to the reports, the blast hit a police vehicle carrying Hamid Shakeel Durrani, deputy inspector general of Police of Quetta, near Chamman Housing Society at the airport road of Quetta, the provincial capital of Pakistan’s southwest province of Balochistan, leaving nine people injured.

Police, rescue teams and security forces rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital and the Combined Military Hospital in the city where the officer and two other policemen succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Durrani came under attack after he left his residence in Chamman Housing Society for his office.
At least four vehicles and two motorcycles were also damaged in the explosion.

According to police, the bomb was planted on the roadside after hiding it in a blanket, and it was detonated with a remote-controlled device.

Security forces and police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation besides increasing checking in the city. No group or individual has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
