Mumbai: Bollywood is grappling with the new age menace, deepfake technology, which is causing consternation among celebrities and fans alike. In a recent incident, popular actress Alia Bhatt has become the latest victim of this technological abuse, with a disturbing video featuring her likeness going viral on the internet.

Alia Bhatt is not the only Bollywood star to be targeted by deepfake technology. Before this, Rashmika Mandanna and Kajol had also become victims of a similar case. Rashmika’s deepfake video had created quite a stir, after which the actress expressed her concern on Twitter. “This is really very scary and the risks involved are extremely scary,” she wrote.

These incidents highlight a more significant problem in the digital age. As technology is advancing, the possibility of its misuse is also increasing. Authorities are reportedly investigating these incidents with a focus on reducing such cyber crimes. The onus also lies on social media platforms to take strict action against such malicious practices, where these deepfakes are often circulated.
