Bomb scare: 41 Airports across India, over 50 hospitals in Mumbai gets hoax bomb threat emails

Bomb Threats: 41 airports in the country received e-mails containing bomb threats on Tuesday, after which each of them was declared a hoax after a several-hour operation by security agencies.

Bomb Threats: The threat to blow up the airport was given through e-mail. Received at the airports at around 12.40 pm from an e-mail ID named ‘xhumdu888’. Airports have initiated contingency measures after receiving a bomb threat, conducted investigations and searched terminals following the recommendations of the relevant Bomb Threat Assessment Committee.

Threat to bomb 50 more hospitals in Mumbai
More than 50 hospitals in Mumbai have received bomb threats, including Jaslok Hospital, Raheja Hospital, Seven Hill Hospital, Kohinoor Hospital, KEM Hospital, JJ Hospital, St. George Hospital and many other hospitals. Threatening emails have been sent using VPN networks. Mumbai Police said, the identity of the sender and the purpose of the threat are not yet known.

A Chennai-Mumbai IndiGo flight on Tuesday received a bomb threat, said the airlines in a statement. Following the protocol, the plane landed safely at the Mumbai airport at 10.30 pm.

“IndiGo flight 6E 5149, operating from Chennai to Mumbai, had received a bomb threat. Upon landing in Mumbai, the crew followed protocol and the aircraft was taken to an isolation bay. All passengers have safely disembarked the aircraft. We are working with the security agencies and post-completion of all security checks, the aircraft will be positioned back in the terminal area,” the statement read.

An online group named ‘KNR’ is behind the threat

An online group named ‘KNR’ is suspected to be behind these fake threatening e-mails. He said that the group had allegedly sent similar e-mails to many schools in Delhi-NCR on May 1. The e-mail received by the airports contained an almost identical message, Hello, explosives have been hidden in the airport. The bombs will explode soon. You will all die. Sources said that all the airports termed the threat as fake and the movement of passengers was kept as uninterrupted as possible.

Airport security increased after bomb threat
After receiving a bomb threat through e-mail, security at all airports across the country was increased. Among the airports which were threatened, Nagpur, Patna and Jaipur airports were threatened with bombs.

Dubai bound plane searched after bomb threat
A threat of a bomb being planted in a flight from Delhi to Dubai was given through email on Monday, which later proved to be a hoax. Whereas on Tuesday, a flight from Chennai International Airport to Dubai with 286 passengers was delayed due to rumor of a bomb.
