Mumbai: There was a stir in Mumbai today at 12.57 pm when a city hospital was threatened with a bomb through a phone call. According to the statement issued by Mumbai Police, the matter is related to Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. Suddenly the phone rang on the hospital’s landline. The caller also threatened to blow up the hospital with a bomb.
According to the police, the call came from an unknown number. The caller made this threat by naming some members of the Ambani family. Sources said that the caller also threatened to kill Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani. Police has said that a case has been registered in the crime in the incident at DB Marg police station. According to the police, the matter is being investigated.
Even before this, a call had come on the land line of this hospital of Reliance Foundation and the caller had threatened the Ambani family. In this case the accused was arrested by the police.
The development also comes mere days after the Centre upgraded the security cover of Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani to the ‘Z+’ category, considering threat perception based on inputs received from intelligence agencies. The billionaire industrialist will now be under the protection of nearly 45 to 50 armed commandoes of CRPF which has been providing him ‘Z’ category security since 2013 on a payment basis.
Early in 2021, Ambani’s security had been beefed up after the recovery of an explosives-laden SUV near his house in Mumbai. The force currently provides armed cover to Ambani when he is mobile while it also secures his residential and office premises.
His wife Nita is also provided CRPF security cover of the ‘Y+’ category.
