Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin give India innings victory over Australia in Nagpur Test

New Delhi: Team India has won big in the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In this match held in Nagpur, India defeated Australia by an innings and 132 runs in just three days.

In the second innings, Australia completely surrendered to the pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja. Team India is now 1-0 ahead in the 4-Test series.

Australia’s team had scored only 177 runs in the first innings, then Ravindra Jadeja took five wickets. In response, Team India scored 400 runs in their first innings. For India, captain Rohit Sharma scored 120, Akshar Patel scored 84 and Ravindra Jadeja scored 70 runs.

India got a lead of 223 runs in the first innings. But as soon as Team India started bowling in the second innings, the Kangaroo team succumbed.

The pair of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja completely destroyed Australia’s batting. The hype that Australia had about the spin attack proved to be absolutely correct and Team India won the match in just 3 days.

India scored 400 runs in the first innings. Australian captain Pat Cummins ended India’s innings by clean bowling Akshar Patel. Akshar Patel scored 84 runs in 174 balls. Due to the excellent innings of Akshar Patel, India has taken a lead of 223 runs.

The spin bowlers are getting a lot of help in the Nagpur pitch and this edge can prove to be decisive. With the end of India’s innings, the umpires had announced lunch.

Australia won the toss and decided to bat first, but the Kangaroo batsmen failed completely. Marnus Labushen (49 runs) and Steve Smith (37 runs) tried a little, but both of them could not do anything special.

Australia’s first innings was reduced to 177 runs. Jadeja took five and Ashwin took three wickets. In response, India got off to a great start. First captain Rohit scored a century. After this Ravindra Jadeja scored 70 and Akshar Patel scored 84 runs.

Mohammed Shami also scored 37 runs and took India’s score to 400 runs. Todd Murphy took seven wickets and Pat Cummins took two wickets for Australia.
