New Delhi: Shahrukh Khan has made a comeback on the film screen after four years. On the very first day, his film Pathaan has made new records at the box office. According to initial estimates, Pathaan has collected Rs 53 to 55 crores on the opening day. With this, Pathaan not only emerged as the biggest non-holiday opener of all time, but also became the biggest opener in the history of Hindi cinema. According to a report by Box Office India, “Pathaan has recorded a phenomenal opening day at the box office as it takes a ₹50-51 crore net collection in its Hindi version, as per early estimates.” As per the article, ‘Bahubali: The Conclusion’ (in Hindi), which was the greatest non-holiday opener before ‘Pathaan’, the action movie, which also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, has shattered non-holiday records by a wide margin. The 2017 film starring an ensemble cast including Prabhas and Anushka Shetty is directed by SS Rajamouli.

The three strongest chains PVR, Inox and Cinepolis reported a turnover of around Rs 26.50 crore, which is 50 per cent of the total turnover. The film was equally strong in single screen as well. On the other hand, due to the Republic Day holiday on Thursday, another boom can be seen in the business of the film. If this happens, Pathan will become the first film in the history of Hindi cinema to do business of 100 crores in just two days.

Industry tracker Ramesh Bala tweeted about Pathaan’s worldwide box office collection on Day 1. He said, “Pathaan takes a whopping ₹100 crore plus gross opening at the worldwide box office. No.1 debut in UAE and Singapore.” In another tweet, he said, “Pathaan has crossed $1 million in the US by Wednesday afternoon.”

Pathan will target a business of Rs 200 crore in the opening weekend. If the film manages to do so, Pathan will also become the first Hindi film to score a double century in a span of 5 days. Seeing the positive reviews of the audience and the reviews of the critics, it seems possible. The initial enthusiasm around the film is showing that the film will join the 300 crore club. In this way, this will be the first film of Shah Rukh Khan in the club of 300 crores.

‘Pathaan’ marks Shah Rukh Khan’s grand return on celluloid after ‘Zero’ which was released in 2018. Co-starring Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, ‘Pathaan’ is an action-thriller.
