The incident occurred in Manika village near the Uttar Pradesh border when the boy was playing near the borewell and fell into it at around 3 pm on Friday. He was stuck at a depth of approximately 40 feet.

Rescue teams, including the State Disaster Emergency Response Force (SDERF), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and local authorities, have been tirelessly working to reach the boy. Oxygen is being supplied into the 70-feet-deep borewell, and parallel pits are being dug as part of the rescue efforts.

Rewa Collector Pratibha Pal stated that the boy has been located but is not responding. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is monitoring the situation closely and staying in constant contact with local authorities.

Efforts to bring the boy out involve digging wide pits on both sides of the borewell, while oxygen is supplied through a pipe to sustain him. The NDRF team from Varanasi has been called in to assist in the rescue operation, despite challenges posed by unseasonal rains affecting the efforts.
