New Delhi: After the end of the hectic IPL tournament, players are now focusing on international cricket. Team India’s next assignment is against the touring Proteas for the five-match T-20I series.
The Indian cricket team is set to assemble in New Delhi on June 5, where the first match will take place between India and South Africa. The team will have to go through a few practise sessions to become fully fit before the match.
Meanwhile, the visitors are arriving on June 2.
The series will get underway on June 9 in Delhi. BCCI has already made it clear that there will be no restrictions on the number of people. It means full capacity can watch the upcoming series. Besides this, players are free from passing through the bio-bubble phase. But the regular Covid-19 test will take place to check the players’ status regarding the deadly virus.
Apart from Delhi, the other four matches will be held in Cuttack (June 12), Visakhapatnam (June 14), Rajkot (June 17) and Bengaluru (June 19).
In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul has to lead the team. While Rishabh Pant would be his deputy in this series. Several senior players, like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah, have been given rest after the marathon IPL tournament.
