Mumbai: Google’s search engine has released its “Year in Search 2022” list of the most successful films of the year. As per the list, Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra Part One-Shiva generated more talk than any other movie, even though it wasn’t the most financially successful Indian movie of the year. The film topped the movie search list for the year, beating other well-known blockbusters, including KGF, Chapter 2, RRR, Kantara, and The Kashmir Files.

Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Nagarjuna all made lengthy cameo appearances in the movie Brahmastra, which starred Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Mouni Roy. The expensive fantasy adventure earned more than 400 crore. Given its scope, the movie was highly anticipated and hence topped the search charts for all Indian movies this year.

Four films from the three south Indian industries follow, including the Telugu hit RRR, which comes in at number four; the Kannada smash Kantara, which comes in at number five; and Kamal Haasan’s homecoming Tamil project Vikram, which comes in at number seven. The most striking entry is at number six—the Telugu hit Pushpa.

The Rise, which came out in 2018 but still managed to dominate search trends in 2022 for long enough to surpass several of this year’s hits, is the most notable inclusion at number 6. South Asian movies beat Bollywood on the list, just like they did at the box office.

Compared to five films from the south, only four Hindi films made it into the top ten.
