New Delhi: Brajesh Pathak who is known for his infidelity and quick disposal of public problems is a big name in the UP politics. Pathak’s political career started from Lucknow University and went on to Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. Mr Pathak was a cabinet minister in the first term of the Yogi government but in the tenure of Yogi 2.0 a big responsibility has been given to him. He has been made deputy CM during the tenure of Yogi 2.0

-Pathak, 57, contested the recently-concluded Uttar Pradesh assembly election from Lucknow Cantt and bagged 1,08,147 votes. He defeated his nearest rival Surendra Singh Gandhi of Samajwadi Party by a margin of 39,512 votes.
-He was a minister of legislative, justice and rural engineering service in the last Yogi Adityanath cabinet.
-In 2017 UP assembly election, Pathak won from Lucknow Central constituency on a BJP ticket. He defeated his nearest rival Ravidas Mehrotra of Samajwadi Party (SP).
-He was first given ministry of law and justice but later his portfolio was changed in the first cabinet expansion of Adityanath ministry in August 2019.
-Lawyer by profession, Pathak was an MP of Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP). He was a BSP Lok Sabha MP from Unnao between 2004 and 2009.
-He switched to BJP ahead of 2017 UP assembly election in the presence of Union home minister Amit Shah and other party leaders.
