Breaking: Former BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary, 62, passes away due to heart attack

Breaking news coming from sports industry, Former Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary has passed away in the early hours of Tuesday morning. He was the former Jharkhand State Cricket Association president.

Ranchi: Big news is coming out from Jharkhand Cricket Association. Ex-BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary died on Tuesday morning due to a heart attack. He has also held many important positions in the BCCI. In 2005, he became the President of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JPSC). Then he was the manager of Cricket Team India from 2005 to 2009. In 2013, he entered politics by taking VRS from IPS job. Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren has also condoled the death of Amitabh Chaudhary. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has expressed grief over his death. Soren expressed his condolences to his family by tweeting.

62-year-old Amitabh Chaudhary was one of the famous people of Jharkhand. He was involved in governance, administration, cricket and politics. After doing engineering from IIT Kharagpur in 1985, he passed the UPSC exam. After this he became the IPS of Bihar cadre. After the formation of a separate state, Jharkhand came. Later also joined cricket.

He was also the main force behind the iconic JSCA Stadium in Ranchi – which eventually emerged as a Test venue. During his tenure as the JSCA chief, Choudhary played a key role in developing infrastructure for Jharkhand cricket. In 2019, Choudhary could not contest the JSCA elections due to the cooling-off period clause enforced by the Supreme Court in the wake of the Lodha committee recommendations.

Expressing grief over the death of Amitabh Choudhary, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren wrote on Twitter, “Sad news of the sudden demise of former JPSC Chairman Shri Amitabh Choudhary ji. Former IPS officer Amitabh ji also played an important role in increasing the game of cricket in the state. May God give peace to the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family to bear the hour of grief.
