Hundreds of cancer patients being treated with immunotherapy are now being prepared to be given injections of atezolizumab “under the skin”, the NHS said on Tuesday after receiving approval from the British Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA). The NHS said that atezolizumab, also known as Tecentric, is usually given to patients through a drip directly into their veins. This process takes about 30 minutes or up to an hour for some patients.

In many patients, this time also takes longer, when it becomes difficult for the medicine to reach their veins, but with the new method, now this medicine will be injected under the skin instead of intravenously.
