The Victoria Police confirmed the arrests, saying, “Brothers Abhijeet and Robin Gartan were arrested in Goulburn with the help of NSW Police.” Both Navjeet and the accused brothers were from Karnal, Haryana.

The fight started because of a disagreement over rent among a group of Indian students. Navjeet tried to stop the fight but sadly got stabbed in the chest. His 30-year-old friend, also an Indian student, got hurt too.

Navjeet was a smart student planning to visit his family in July. He had been studying in Australia for a year and a half. His dad, a farmer, sold some land to pay for his studies.

The police had asked for help to find the two brothers earlier. They gave descriptions and pictures of Abhijeet and Robin Gartan. Abhijeet, 26, is about 170cm tall, with a solid build and black hair, just like his brother Robin, who’s 27.
