Hyderabad: The first meeting of the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samiti’s (formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi) is set to be held in Telangana on Wednesday in Khammam town. Several top leaders, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, are likely to turn up at the meeting.
Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, his Kerala counterpart Pinarayi Vijayan, CPI General Secretary D Raja, and Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav are other prominent leaders who will attend the BRS meet.
The meeting was seen as politically motivated, and it would be the first gathering of TRS after renaming itself BRS. The assemblage of leaders of numerous opposition parties — BRS, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Samajwadi Party, and the Left — on one platform is rare
K Chandrasekhar Rao, TRS president and Telangana Chief Minister, and other leaders first pay a visit to the Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple at Yadadri near Hyderabad. It was remarkably renovated by the Rao government before moving to Khammam.
Khammam is situated about 200 km away from Hyderabad, where all the leaders will see the launch of the second phase of ‘Kanti Velugu’, the Telangana government’s eye screening programme.
TRS got approval on December, 2022 from the Election Commission to change the name of the party from TRS to BRS.
Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, famous as KCR, spoke after unfurling the pink flag of BRS and said with confidence that one day the “pink flag would fly high on the Red Fort.”
Speaking to his party leaders, KCR revealed a new slogan, ‘Ab ki baar kisan sarkar’ (this time farmers’ government), and he further stressed on policies like new economy, environment, water, electricity, and women’s empowerment, which are the needs of the country.
