Manipur: A BSF jawan molested a woman in a grocery store in Manipur. He has been suspended.
Imphal: Manipur is burning in the fire of violence. The parade video of two naked women that surfaced on July 19 had raised questions on women’s pride. Now a new case has come to the fore. This time a woman has become a victim of BSF jawan’s dirty act. The matter is of Imphal. BSF jawan caught on camera sexually assaulting a woman inside a grocery store. At present, the accused jawan has been suspended. A case has also been registered against him. BSF has also started investigation.
BSF started departmental inquiry
In the video, a man in uniform and carrying an INSAS rifle is seen touching the woman inappropriately. Through the video, he was identified as Head Constable Satish Prasad. A senior official said that the incident took place on July 20 at a grocery shop near a petrol pump in Imphal. The accused head constable Satish Prasad has been suspended and a case has been registered against him.
According to the official, after receiving the complaint, the BSF has started an internal inquiry against the accused. The accused has been kept under strict observation and departmental proceedings have been initiated against him.
Seven arrested so far for making women roam naked
On July 19, a video of two women being paraded naked before they were allegedly gang-raped in Manipur’s Thoubal district went viral. Seven people have been arrested so far in the case, one of whom is a minor.
Police say that all efforts are being made to identify the remaining culprits by raiding the suspected hideouts of those who have been identified.
Manipur Police has claimed that several zero FIRs have been registered on sexual violence cases, but there has been no progress in the investigation, as the victims and survivors are yet to join the investigation. We are also taking action against those who are spreading fake news.
