BSF Shoots Two Bangladeshi Smugglers Dead in Nadia, West Bengal

In a late-night encounter on Sunday (December 17), two Bangladeshi smugglers were shot dead by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the international border in Govindpur, located within the Krishnaganj police station area of Nadia district, West Bengal.

Infiltration Attempt Thwarted

The incident unfolded around midnight when a group of Bangladeshi smugglers made an attempt to sneak into India by breaching a newly-constructed barbed fence. The BSF’s patrol unit responded swiftly, firing warning rounds into the air, prompting the smugglers to abandon their initial infiltration attempt.

However, the situation escalated when, later on, a BSF search party patrolled the area. The same group of smugglers retaliated, attacking the security personnel with weapons. In a necessary act of self-defense, the BSF personnel opened fire, resulting in the demise of the two Bangladeshi smugglers.

BSF’s Prompt Response and Coordination

Following the encounter, the BSF promptly informed local police about the incident and handed over the bodies of the deceased smugglers. The bodies were subsequently transported to Shaktinagar District Hospital for post-mortem examination, as confirmed by a police official.

As of now, the two Bangladeshi smugglers remain unidentified. The two killed are yet to be unidentified.
