New Delhi: There is a ruckus going on across the country regarding the Agnipath scheme. Meanwhile, saddened by the violence over the Agneepath scheme, Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra on Monday announced the recruitment of trained and qualified Agniveers. Anand said through social media, ‘I am saddened by the violence over the Agneepath scheme. When this scheme was introduced last year, I had said and I repeat that Agniveer’s discipline and skill will make him employable.
After the announcement of Agneepath scheme, protests started in many states including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Jharkhand and Assam. The agitation intensified in some places and the protesters torched several vehicles. Coaches of trains were burnt at many places. Damaged both private and public properties.
Job offer to Agniveers
Mahindra Group Chairman Anand Mahindra tweeted, “I am deeply saddened and disappointed by the kind of violence that is taking place after the announcement of Agneepath scheme. Last year, when the scheme was being considered, I had said that the discipline and skill that Agniveer will get will definitely make him employable. He further wrote that Mahindra Group will give such trained and capable youth a job opportunity here.

Let us inform that the entry age for recruitment in the Armed Forces has been fixed from 17.5 to 21 years. However, after protests, the central government announced to increase the upper age limit for the recruitment of Agniveers from 21 years to 23 years as it was not possible to recruit during the last two years. The government claims that the ‘Agnipath’ scheme gives a golden opportunity to the youth to join the defense system and serve the country. At the same time, many opposition parties including Congress are strongly criticizing the Agneepath scheme. Many leaders including Rahul Gandhi have demanded the withdrawal of this scheme.
