Let us inform that the entry age for recruitment in the Armed Forces has been fixed from 17.5 to 21 years. However, after protests, the central government announced to increase the upper age limit for the recruitment of Agniveers from 21 years to 23 years as it was not possible to recruit during the last two years. The government claims that the ‘Agnipath’ scheme gives a golden opportunity to the youth to join the defense system and serve the country. At the same time, many opposition parties including Congress are strongly criticizing the Agneepath scheme. Many leaders including Rahul Gandhi have demanded the withdrawal of this scheme.
