Chandigarh: The residence of the Punjab chief minister in Chandigarh’s sector 2 was fined Rs 10,000 by the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation on Saturday for littering.
The challan was issued in the name of CRPF Battalion DSP Harjinder Singh (the CRPF manages a part of the security) and mentioned the address of the violator—House No. 7, Sector 2, Chandigarh, the Punjab chief minister’s residence.
The house address mentioned in the challan is: House number 7, Sector-2, Chandigarh.
Maheshinder Singh Sidhu, a local BJP councillor, claimed he had been receiving complaints from locals over the disposal of rubbish by the workers of the chief minister’s residence behind house number 7 for some time. The workers of the municipal corporation repeatedly asked them not to dump waste outside the residence, but they continued to do so.
Sidhu further added I hoped they would maintain cleanliness, and the chief minister would set a good example for the people of the state to follow, but he himself failed to keep his official residence clean.
Sidhu said House numbers 44, 45, 6, and 7 are part of the chief minister’s residence, Sidhu said.
