Canada: 24-year-old Indian student shot dead in Car in Vancouver

Canada: An official said that a 24-year-old student from Haryana was shot dead inside a car in Canada's Vancouver. The deceased was identified as Chirag Antil. He added that So far, no arrests have been made and an investigation was on.

Canada: An official said that a 24-year-old student from Haryana was shot dead inside a car in Canada’s Vancouver. The deceased was identified as Chirag Antil. He added that So far, no arrests have been made and an investigation was on.

The Vancouver Police in a statement said Chirag Antil, 24, was found dead inside a vehicle in the area after neighbours reported hearing gunshots. The incident happened on April 12.

The police said,”Officers were called to East 55th Avenue and Main Street around 11 pm on April 12 after residents heard the sound of gunshots. Chirag Antil, 24, was found deceased inside a vehicle in the area. No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.”

Varun Chaudhary, head of the National Students Union of India, the student wing of the Congress, requested assistance to the student’s family in a post on Twitter, tagging the Ministry of External Affairs.

Mr Chaudhary said ,”The murder of Indian student Chirag Antil in Vancouver, Canada requires immediate attention. We urge the Ministry of External Affairs to closely monitor the progress of the investigation and ensure that justice is delivered at the earliest.”

He added, “Furthermore, we request the Ministry to provide all necessary assistance and support to the family of the deceased in this difficult time.”

Local media reported that Chirag Antil’s family is raising funds through crowdfunding platform to bring his body back to India. Chirag Antil’s brother, Haryana resident Romit Antil, told media that he was a kind person.

His brother said to media, “My brother and I had a very good relationship. We used to talk every day, day and night. I last spoke to him before the accident happened. He was very cheerful, he never had any fights or arguments with anyone. He was a very humble person.”
