Case registered against woman for biting her husband’s ear in anger over ‘unknown issue’ in Delhi’s Sultanpuri

New Delhi: In a freak incident, a furious woman allegedly bit off her husband’s right ear in a fit of rage in the Sultanpuri area of outer district here, police said on Sunday. The 45-year-old victim told the police that the upper portion of his right ear got mutilated due to the bite and he had to undergo surgery at Rohini hospital.

According to reports, quoting sources, the 45-year-old husband filed a police complaint against his wife after treatment. Police registered an FIR under Indian Penal Code Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and said that further investigation into the matter is underway.

In his statement to the police, the victim said “I went to throw garbage outside my house around 9.20 am on November 20. I asked my wife to clean the house. Soon after I returned home, my wife started fighting with me over an unknown issue.”

During the heated argument, he said that his wife also asked him to sell off their house, so that she can take her share and live separately with her children. He added that even though he tried to make her understand, a verbal dispute broke out between the two.

“She even tried to hit me, but I pushed her away. I was walking out of the house when she held me from behind and in a fit of wrath bit my right ear so hard that the upper portion of my ear got dismembered. My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment,” he added. The victim underwent surgery at Rohini’s Jaipur Golden Hospital.

Police received information about the attack from a hospital on November 20, following which they sent a team to investigate the matter. A senior police officer said the victim – who was unwell at the time – was in no position to give a statement. However, he told them that he would personally come to the police station to give his statement, the officer said.

“On November 22, he initiated a discussion with the police and gave a written complaint. We have registered an FIR into the matter and further investigation is in progress,” the senior official added.
