According to sources, the CBI filed the referral report in court on Tuesday.

The CBI took over the inquiry into the cases last year, including accusations of sexual exploitation by the accuser against Chandy, former Union minister KC Venugopal, and other politicians.

Based on a complaint made by the woman, an accused in the multi-billion dollar solar panel fraud, the government began an investigation into the multi-billion dollar solar panel fraud during the UDF government, alleging that she was sexually abused by them in 2012.

The Kerala government, led by the CPI(M), had recommended that the CBI look into the cases in early 2021.

According to the opposition Congress, it was a politically motivated move by the LDF government, which could not find any evidence against the party leaders.

Sources said the CBI investigation has made it clear that the woman’s allegations against Chandy were baseless because there was no proof that she visited the former Chief Minister’s official residence on the specific day.

According to the sources, the CBI also discovered that the case was fabricated.

In a letter to the police commissioner on July 19, 2013, some of his ministers, including Chandy and two previous Union ministers, were among the Congress and UDF politicians accused of sexual misconduct and corruption.
