CBI names Manish Sisodia for first time in charge sheet in Liquor policy case

CBI names Manish Sisodia for first time in charge sheet in Liquor policy case

New Delhi: Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia is under the scanner of CBI and ED in Delhi’s Excise Policy case. Manish Sisodia’s name has been included in the CBI’s charge sheet for the first time. At present, Sisodia is in judicial custody till May 1. In the excise case, Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on February 26 after 8 hours of questioning.

According to the report submitted to the Lieutenant Governor and CM of Delhi, Manish Sisodia changed the liquor policy without the approval of the Lieutenant Governor. The government waived the tender license fee of Rs 144.36 crore in the name of Corona pandemic. It is alleged that this benefited the liquor contractors. It has been alleged in the report that the commission received from this was used by the Aam Aadmi Party in the Punjab assembly elections.

The CBI had filed a 10,000-page charge sheet against 7 accused in the liquor policy case five months ago in the Rouse Avenue Court. Sisodia’s name was not there in this. The CBI charge sheet includes two arrested businessmen, the chief of a news channel, a liquor baron from Hyderabad, a liquor distributor from Delhi and two officials of the Excise Department. Vijay Nair, Abhishek Boinpally, Arun Pillai, Sameer Mahendru, Gautam Mutha, Kuldeep Singh and Narendra Singh have been named in the charge sheet.

What are the allegations?
