Centre to maintain industrialist Mukesh Ambani, family’s security: Supreme Court

New Delhi: The Supreme Court dismissed a plea on Friday that questioned the security provided by the Union government to industrialist Mukesh Ambani and his family in Mumbai.

The central government’s appeal, which contested the Tripura High Court’s decision on a public interest litigation, or PIL, was approved by Chief Justice NV Ramana,  Justices Krishna Murari and Hima Kohli.

The Tripura High Court’s rulings on the petition contesting the security granted to the industrialist and his family in Mumbai were stayed by the court late last month.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, who is arguing on behalf of the Centre, said that Bikash Saha, the petitioner from Tripura, has nothing to do with the protection for visitors offered in Mumbai.

The Tripura High Court had passed two interim orders on May 31 and June 21 and asked the central government to unveil the original file which is being maintained by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) amidst threat perception and assessment reports of Mr Ambani, his wife and children based on what security has been given to them.
