A letter has been written to NCDC and ICMR on behalf of Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. He has said that if new variants of corona are to be identified in time, genome sequencing is necessary for this. States have also been instructed to send samples for genome sequencing.
The central government has become alert due to the sudden increase in cases of corona virus in many countries of the world including China and America. The government has written a letter to all the states asking them to do genome sequencing of new cases of Kovid. A letter has been written to NCDC and ICMR on behalf of Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. It says that all states will have to lay emphasis on genome sequencing.
At present, there are not many cases of corona in the country, deaths have also come down considerably. But because this virus is spreading again all over the world, in such a situation the government also does not want to be negligent. The central government has also called a review meeting on Wednesday regarding the cases of Corona.
A letter has been written to NCDC and ICMR on behalf of Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan. He has said that if new variants of corona are to be identified in time, genome sequencing is necessary for this. States have also been instructed to send samples for genome sequencing.
Corona cases have suddenly increased in many big countries of the world. A sudden increase in corona cases is being seen especially in America, Brazil, China, Korea and Japan. Due to this, the central government has come on alert mode. The government has asked all the states to be vigilant.
The central government suspects that there is a new variant of Corona, due to which there may be a sudden increase in the cases in the coming days. The Center told the state governments that the way the cases of corona are increasing in many countries of the world, it can be understood that the corona is not over yet. In such a situation, it is necessary to monitor the trend of corona.
Only 10 labs for genome sequencing in the country
At present, there are only 10 genome sequencing labs in the country, from where it is detected. These include- Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (New Delhi), CSIR-Archaeology for Cellular and Molecular Biology (Hyderabad), DBT – Institute of Life Sciences (Bhubaneswar), DBT-in STEM-NCBS (Bengaluru), DBT – National Institute of Labs of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), (Kalyani, West Bengal), ICMR- National Institute of Virology (Pune).
