CEO Mark Zuckerberg announces 10,000 job cuts, just four months after huge layoff

New York: Facebook’s parent company Meta said on Tuesday that it is going to lay off 10,000 people. Four months back, the company had retrenched 11,000 employees. In a message issued to its staff, the company’s founder Mark Zuckerberg said that we are going to reduce the size of our team by about 10,000 people. Not only this, five thousand such posts can also be abolished, for which employees have not been appointed.

Will have to say goodbye to many passionate collaborators: Zuckerberg
Zuckerberg further said, this decision is difficult, but there is no other way. He further said that we have to say goodbye to the talented and passionate colleagues who have been a part of our success. Significantly, most of the employees who will be fired will be associated with the recruitment department as the company has officially banned continuous hiring.

An announcement will be made to slow down the recruitment process
In addition, Zuckerberg said that our goal is to become a better technology company and improve our financial performance in a difficult environment, so that we can deal with long-term challenges. Outlining a timeline for the company’s restructuring, Zuckerberg said that over the next few months, surveyors across departments would announce the cancellation of low-priority projects and slow down the hiring process.

Significantly, in January, the founder of Meta had hinted at things like firing employees. In the year 2023, the company aims to make Meta a stronger and more agile organization.

There was a layoff even four months back
Facebook-parent Meta Platforms announced the second round of lay-offs on Tuesday. It said it would cut 10,000 jobs in a new phase of mass layoffs. Let us tell you that about 4 months ago, the company had fired 11 thousand employees.
