Students of a private university in Punjab's Mohali staged a massive protest over 'rumours' that a hostel student had made 'objectionable' videos of several other girl students.

Students of a private university in Punjab’s Mohali staged a massive protest over ‘rumours’ that a hostel student had made ‘objectionable’ videos of several other girl students. After this the police took action and the main accused student and her boyfriend arrested by the police.
Along with this, the police has also arrested the youth from Shimla to whom the student allegedly used to send the video. Along with this young man, the police have also arrested another youth. The name of the accused youth is Rakuj and his age is being said to be 31 years. The accused youth is said to be a friend of the girl who made videos of the girls.
The police have caught the accused youth from Indranagar of Dhali police station area. The Punjab Police has taken the accused youth into custody. On Sunday, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann ordered an inquiry into the matter. After preliminary investigation, the police arrested a student.
Punjab Additional Director General of Police Gurpreet Dev, who reached the campus of Chandigarh University along with other senior officials to take stock of the situation after the overnight protest, told reporters that it appears that the accused student shared a video of herself with the youth. No objectionable video of any other student has been found.
However, a large number of students protested again on Sunday evening in the university campus. Some of the protesting students accused the university authorities of “suppressing” the incident.
University terms allegations ‘baseless’, students disagree
The University authorities rejected “false and baseless” reports that claimed videos of several women students in the hostel were made and leaked on social media and distraught students had attempted suicide after the episode.
