London: King Charles III was officially crowned the King of Britain in the first televised Accession Council, which took place at RW St. James’s Palace in London today (Saturday).
Despite the fact that Prince Charles Philip Arthur George succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, as the new king, the Accession Council ceremonially announced the name of the new monarch.
The Accession Council is made up of members of the Privy Council, prominent MPs from both the past and present, peers, some senior civil servants, Commonwealth high commissioners, and the Lord Mayor of London.
Flags will be flown at half-mast beginning at 11:00 am, and royal gun salutes will be fired. There will be more announcements made to the general public from the St. James’ Palace balcony. The senior members of the government will swear an oath to King Charles III in the House of Commons as well.
