Chennai Police Issues Summons to Mansoor Ali Khan for Failure to Appear at Police Station

The All Women Police Station (AWPS) of Thousand Lights, Chennai, has issued summons to actor Mansoor Ali Khan for not complying with the police’s request to appear at the station.

Chennai city police took action against actor Mansoor Ali Khan after he allegedly made derogatory remarks about actor Trisha Krishnan. The directive to register a case against the actor came from DGP Shankar Jiwal following an order. The National Commission for Women had earlier taken Suo Motu cognizance of the matter and instructed the Tamil Nadu police to initiate legal proceedings against the actor.

Following the issuance of summons, Mansoor Ali Khan provided a statement, requesting additional time and citing a throat infection as the reason for his non-appearance.

The actor faces charges under Sections 354 A (sexual harassment) and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code.

A video of Mansoor Ali Khan from an interview surfaced on social media, where he expressed a desire for a rape scene in the film ‘Leo,’ starring Trisha, similar to scenes he had done with other actresses in previous films. Trisha and Mansoor Ali Khan do not share screen space in the film ‘Leo’ but play significant roles.

In response to Khan’s remarks, Trisha took to the microblogging site X, condemning his comments as sexist, disrespectful, misogynistic, repulsive, and in bad taste. She affirmed her determination to avoid sharing screen space with someone holding such views.

NCW member and BJP leader Khushbu Sundar also criticized Mansoor Ali Khan for his comments, stating that individuals with such a mindset bring a bad name to society, particularly when efforts are being made to protect women and uphold their dignity.
