Chhattisgarh: 2 labourers dead, one injured in IED blast at iron ore mine in Naxal-hit Narayanpur

Narayanpur: On Friday, An official said that two labourers were dead and another sustained injuries after a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off at an iron ore mine site in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.A senior police officer said that the incident happened around 7.30 am.

Narayanpur: On Friday, An official said that two labourers were dead and another sustained injuries after a pressure improvised explosive device (IED) planted by Naxalites went off at an iron ore mine site in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh.

A senior police officer said that the incident happened around 7.30 am when the three workers were going for work in Aamdai Ghati iron ore mine on a hill under Chhote Dongar police station limits, located around 350 km away from Raipur.

Giving information about this incident, Officials said that the laborers working in the Amdai iron ore mine were working as usual on Friday morning. While they were in the mining area, a laborer’s foot stepped on a pressure bomb. It exploded and two laborers died in the incident, while another one was injured. Jayaswal Neco Industries Limited (JNIL) has been allotted the iron ore mine in Aamdai Ghati and Naxalites have been opposing the project for a long time.

Official further said that the deceased were identified as Ritesh Gagda (21) and Shravan Gagda (24), residents of Narayanpur district, he added. Police officials said that a police force was dispatched to the spot after the incident. After which the police took out Ritesh’s body and injured Umesh from the spot and took them to the hospital.

Police also said that the body of Shravan who was reported to be missing after the explosion, was found at the blast site. He said that the incident took place in the mine of Jaiswal Nico Industries Limited. Nico Industries Limited has been allotted an iron ore mine in Amdai Valley. which Naxalites are opposing for a long time. Police officials said that the police have registered a case and an operation against Naxalites in the area is underway.
