Chhattisgarh: 3 people dead, 10 injured after fire breaks out in transport nagar in Korba

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a commercial complex located in Transport Nagar of Korba in Chhattisgarh on Monday night. More than a dozen shops have come under its grip. Three people, including a woman, died due to suffocation in the smoke, while 10 people were injured.

New Delhi: A massive fire broke out in a commercial complex located in Transport Nagar of Korba in Chhattisgarh on Monday night. More than a dozen shops have come under its grip. Three people, including a woman, died due to suffocation in the smoke, while 10 people were injured. Seven of these have been admitted to Shweta Nursing Home for treatment. The condition of one patient remains critical.

On receiving the information, four fire tenders rushed to rescue the people trapped inside and the fire was brought under control after about six hours. According to the information, this complex located in the heart of the city has many shops including bank, LIC office, electronic showroom, stationery. Due to the sudden fire that broke out in the complex, the people inside did not even get a chance to escape. Seeing no place to exit, some people jumped from the top. The fire brigade team pulled out the people trapped inside from the window.

The firemen started the work of getting the trapped people out of the window somehow. At the same time, the matter of death of three people due to suffocation has come to the fore. This includes Rashmi Singh (36) resident of Chirmiri and Shatrughan resident of Karumhua. Another deceased male has not been identified. The cause of the fire is not clear. It is believed that the accident happened due to short circuit. At present, the administration has given orders to investigate the matter.

Collector Sanjeev Jha, SP U Uday Kiran, Corporation Commissioner Prabhakar Pandey, CMHO Dr SN Kesari reached the hospital to know about the condition of the injured patients. He inquired about the condition of the patients and consoled the families. Due to the promptness of the administration, the work of saving dozens of lives was done in the longest running operation of Korba. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the hospital management has also decided to provide free treatment to all the patients. The complete treatment of the patients will be done by the hospital management.
