Four Naxalites killed in gunfight with security personnel in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh

Bijapu: On Tuesday, the police said that four Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security personnel in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. According to the information, the official said that when a small Tungali forest of DRG teams was near, the firing began.

Giving details about this, the official said that under the Naxalite Protest Campaign, the forests of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were encountered and four Naxalites were killed.

The official said that till now the bodies of four Naxalites have been recovered from the encounter site and the search is still continuing. Earlier on Monday, the police said that a Naxalite commander, who was allegedly involved in deadly attacks and carried a bounty of Rs 8 lakh, surrendered before the security forces in the Sukma district.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran G Chavan said that Nagesh alias Pedkam Erra (38) turned himself in before the police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officials, citing disappointment with the “inhumane” and “hollow” Maoist ideology.

The surrendered Naxalite also said he was impressed by the district police’s rehabilitation campaign ‘Puna Narkom’ (a word coined in the local Gondi dialect meaning new dawn, new beginning).
