Chandrasekhar Yadav, a member of the 15th battalion of the CAF, tragically took his own life by discharging an Insas rifle while on security duty at the Halba police chowki.
In Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, a 36-year-old constable from the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) reportedly took his own life by discharging his service weapon. Chandrasekhar Yadav, a member of CAF’s 15th battalion, tragically ended his life by shooting himself with an Insas rifle while on security duty at the Halba police chowki, located within the jurisdiction of the Narharpur police station, late Saturday night, according to a senior official.
Yadav’s fellow officers promptly rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he was declared brought dead. The official stated, “Yadav hailed from the neighboring Dhamtari district. The precise reason behind his decision is yet to be determined, and further investigations are ongoing.”
This incident follows a similar tragedy last month when an Inspector from the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA), the CRPF’s jungle warfare unit, allegedly took his own life by shooting himself with his service rifle in Bijapur district. In May, another police constable ended his life in a similar manner in Kondagaon district.
Kanker, Bijapur, and Kondagaon are among the seven districts located in the Naxalite-affected Bastar division.
