Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics, which will feature 14 different traditional sports, the Chief Minister himself took part in a number of games, including seven stones.

Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics, which will feature 14 different traditional sports. After the inauguration ceremony, the Chief Minister himself took part in a number of games, including seven stones.

The event will be held in the state from October 6 to January 6 of 2023. Overall, 14 kinds of traditional sports have been included in the Olympics in both team and individual categories.

In a tweet, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh said: “At Raipur’s Balveer Singh Juneja Indoor Stadium, the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics, the Mahakumbh of traditional sports, was officially launched today.

“In the Chhattisgarhiya Olympics, 14 types of traditional sports have been included in the team and single categories, in which the competitions of Gilli Danda, Pittool, Langdi Run, Banti (Kancha), Billas, Fugdi, Gedi Run, and Bhanwara are included,” Baghel said in a subsequent tweet.

All these games will be held in six levels, and there will be separate categories for men and women. People of all age groups can take part. Therefore, elderly people will also get a chance to show off their old skills and attract the youngsters’ attention to keep it alive.

Traditional games are on the verge of extinction due to a lack of media coverage, and the general perception is that such games are only played by rural children and the poor of society. Due to no exposure old traditional games of the country has lost significance.
