Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has condoled the sudden demise of three-time Congress MLA and Vice President Manoj Singh Mandavi. Mandvi's last rites will be performed at Nathia Navagaon in Kanker.
New Delhi: Manoj Singh Mandavi, Deputy Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly and MLA of the ruling Congress, died on Sunday due to a heart attack. Party leaders gave this information. Congress communication unit chief Sushil Anand Shukla said Mandavi, 58, was admitted to a hospital in neighboring Dhamtari town after suffering a heart attack, where he died in the morning.
Mandavi, who represents Bhanupratappur constituency in Kanker district, was at his native village Nathia Nawagaon in Charama area of the district on Saturday night. Shukla said that he complained of being unwell after which he was taken to a hospital in Charama where doctors examined him. After this, Mandavi was admitted to a hospital in Dhamtari city where he died, he said.
Mandavi, a three-time MLA and an important tribal face of the party in the Bastar region, was the Home and Prisons Minister during the Ajit Jogi-led Congress government in the state from 2000 to 2003.
