Chicago-Delhi Air India flight cancelled, 300 passengers left stranded for over 24 hours

New Delhi: Around 300 passengers have been stranded in Chicago, USA since Tuesday due to the cancellation of the Air India flight to New Delhi due to technical reasons. Some passengers complain that there is still no clarity as to when they will be able to fly to Delhi. The flight was scheduled to depart Chicago O'Hare Airport at 1:30 PM (local time) on Tuesday and land in Delhi at 2:20 PM on March 15.

New Delhi: Around 300 passengers have been stranded in Chicago, USA since Tuesday due to the cancellation of the Air India flight to New Delhi due to technical reasons. Some passengers complain that there is still no clarity as to when they will be able to fly to Delhi. The flight was scheduled to depart Chicago O’Hare Airport at 1:30 PM (local time) on Tuesday and land in Delhi at 2:20 PM on March 15.

Gopal Krishna Solanki Radhaswamy, a passenger who booked on this flight, told PTI-Bhasha on Wednesday that the passengers have been waiting for almost 24 hours and still the airline has no answer to give us.

Another passenger said over the phone that there is no confirmation as to when they will fly to Delhi. Around 300 passengers, including foreigners, are stranded at the airport, the two persons said. When contacted for information, an Air India spokesperson said that flight number AI 126 had to be canceled on March 14 due to technical reasons.

The spokesperson said in a statement that all assistance was provided to the affected passengers and every effort was being made to put them on alternative flights. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our passengers. Let us know that at least three international flights of Air India have been affected due to technical glitches in the last two days. Sources gave this information. Flights to Chicago and Vancouver were canceled on Tuesday due to technical problems in the planes, sources said. Both flights were to be operated by Boeing 777 aircraft.

Meanwhile, another flight from Paris to Delhi had to be cancelled, sources said. When contacted for information in this regard, an Air India spokesperson said that flight number AI126 had to be canceled on March 14 due to a technical glitch. The spokesperson said in a statement that all assistance was provided to the affected passengers and every effort was being made to put them on alternative flights.
