New Delhi: Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan has provoked China to issue a fresh warning to the US, claiming that it will endanger the peace and stability in the region.
A Chinese official on Tuesday declared that China strongly opposes any efforts toward “Taiwan independence.” Speaker Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan “would constitute a deliberate intervention in China’s domestic affairs.”
“Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan will seriously deteriorate China-US ties and lead to a very dangerous scenario with grave implications,” he continued.
A harsh critic of China, Nancy Pelosi, is scheduled to land in Taipei later on Tuesday. In response to the visit, the United States had stated that it would not be alarmed by Chinese “sabre rattlers.”
Public opinion, according to Xiaojian, cannot be disregarded, and if the US persists in questioning China’s “red line,” it will face “resolute countermeasures.”
Whoever plays with fire will burn to death by it. The US side would face severe countermeasures if it insists on going and challenges China’s red line. “The US is responsible for all repercussions that result from this,”he said.
The Republic of China and Taiwan were separated in 1949 after the Communists won a civil war on the mainland. Both nations claim that they are one country but disagree over the national leadership. They are officially not related but are linked by huge trade and investment.
