Beijing: The tension in the Taiwanese vicinity has been escalating due to the start of a Chinese military exercise. The Chinese drill near Taiwan is set to be another issue for world peace.
However, the Chinese foreign ministry on Monday made it clear that Taiwan is China’s part and that normal military exercises are being conducted by China “in our own waters” in an open, transparent, and professional way.
In accordance with both domestic and international law, the relevant departments have also promptly released announcements, according to Wang Wenbin, a ministry spokeswoman, who made the statement at a routine media briefing.
Wang was questioned on whether China’s ongoing military exercises comply with international law and whether a fresh alert for aircraft and ships used by the general public will be issued.
Fresh exercises by the Chinese military around Taiwan on Monday further deteriorated the situation on the self-governed island which Beijing claims as its own, after several days of drills in protest of last week’s visit by US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to Taipei.
Meanwhile, the White House stated on Saturday that the military action by China was quite challenging and irresponsible after Taiwan officials said Chinese aircraft and warships rehearsed an attack on the island.
