An arrest warrant has been issued by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Enamul Haque, the alleged ringleader in the cattle smuggling case.
Kolkata: An arrest warrant has been issued by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against Enamul Haque, the alleged ringleader in the cattle smuggling case. He was detained by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the West Bengal cattle smuggling case. Initially detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in November 2020, Enamul was eventually granted bail by the Supreme Court later on.
An arrest warrant has been issued against three suspects, identified as Humayun Kabir, Mehedi Hasan, and Jahangir Alam, the nephew of the case’s mastermind, Enamul Haque. Three of them received appearance notices from West Bengal CID, but they did not turn up. The CID launched a parallel investigation after the CBI started an inquiry into the case.
Enamul Haque is the main culprit in the cattle smuggling across the India-Bangladesh border. According to officials, he used to bribe the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel, politicians, and local villagers to continue his business smoothly.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in August arrested Anubrata Mandal, a senior member of the Trinamool Congress and the party’s Birbhum district president, regarding the cattle smuggling case.A
few days ago, a team from West Bengal CID raided the office of the three accused and seized a few documents from their premises.
