The Aam Aadmi Party emerged victorious in  Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections, winning 134 seats out of 250. The AAP has fielded two candidates: Shelly Oberoi and Ashu Thakur. While the BJP fielded Rekha Gupta, a three-term councillor from Shalimar Bagh, for the mayor’s race,

Aaley Mohammad Iqbal and Jalaj Kumar are the contenders for the AAP’s deputy mayor’s post, and they have been pitted against Ram Nagar councillor Kamal Bagri.

In the latest development, the AAP has expressed displeasure with the Delhi lieutenant governor’s selection of BJP councillor Satya Sharma as the MCD’s presiding officer and the subsequent appointment of ten aldermen to the civic body.
