Dharamshala: The flash flood triggered by the cloudburst and incessant Monsoon rains in Himachal Pradesh has incurred widespread destruction in several parts of the state as raging Manjhi river destroys shops and blocks Shimla National Highway near Jhakri.
The video of distraction from the Dharmshala – an extremely popular tourist destination for many in North India’s Plains – are going viral. As of now, there is no news of any casualty from any area of Himachal Pradesh.

Notably, Dharamshala is currently packed with tourists from Delhi and other surrounding areas. A video has surfaced online showing a huge amount of mud gushing into the town. Luxury cars are seen floating in the flashflood. Manjhi river that flows near Dharamshala is in the spate. The nearby shops, huts have been destroyed due to the raging flow.
Meanwhile, Shimla’s National Highway has been blocked near Jhakri in Rampur area. Many tourists are feared to be stuck due to the blockade.
Another cloudburst has been reported from Kangra.
In neighbouring Uttarakhand, a landslide has been reported in Chamoli.
Earlier this year, Chamoli witnessed horrifying disaster on February 7 in the Nanda Devi National Park region due to landslide and cloudburst.
It is to be mentioned that Monsoon is a critical season for the Himalayan region. Due to heavy deforestation, rains have triggered floods in the recent past.
