New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter on Wednesday thanking Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Manmohan Singh. Kejriwal has thanked the Congress for voting against the Delhi Services Bill in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter on Wednesday thanking Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi and former Prime Minister and Rajya Sabha member Dr. Manmohan Singh. Kejriwal has thanked the Congress for voting against the Delhi Services Bill in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
CM Kejriwal had earlier also held a press conference when the Delhi Services Bill was passed in the House. In that press conference, where he called this bill a black law, he thanked all those parties who voted against the bill. Kejriwal said that our common fight to save the Constitution will continue. “We look forward to your continued support in the fight against the forces seeking to undermine the Constitution,” he added.
In a letter to Kharge, the Delhi chief minister said, “On behalf of 2 crore people of Delhi, I express my gratitude to you for your party’s support in rejecting and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023.” Kejriwal Said, “I would like to extend my heartiest appreciation for advocating the rights of the people of Delhi inside and outside Parliament. I am sure your unwavering devotion to the principle of our Constitution will be remembered for decades to come.”
Along with this, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also wrote a letter to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh saying, “Thank you on behalf of 2 crore people of Delhi for their support in rejecting and voting against the GNCTD (Amendment) Bill, 2023.”
The Delhi Services Bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha after it was passed in the Lok Sabha and the Bill was passed in both the Houses of the Parliament. Union Home Minister Amit Shah took the lead and introduced the bill as well as led the discussion and debate on the bill.
While the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) managed to garner opposition’s support against the bill inside Parliament, the numbers were in favor of the BJP-led ruling NDA coalition. The bill was passed in the Rajya Sabha on 7 August, with 131 votes in favor of the bill and 102 members voting against the bill in the Rajya Sabha.
