New Delhi: The Arvind Kejriwal government of Delhi has extended the free ration scheme being provided since Corona. Now Delhiites will get free ration till 30 September. This decision was taken in the cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. After the meeting, CM Kejriwal gave this information in the press conference.

During the announcement, the Chief Minister had said that to take advantage of this scheme, the beneficiary only needs to give ration card as a document. According to the Delhi government, the number of people taking the benefit of free ration scheme is around 77 lakhs. However, Delhi currently has about 72 lakh ration card holders according to government figures. Those who will get the benefit of free ration scheme.

At the same time, according to the Delhi government, more than 50 lakh people have taken advantage of this scheme so far. In December 2021, the Kejriwal government had extended the free ration scheme till May 31, 2022. Later, in a release, the Delhi government said it has also decided to extend the free ration scheme for NFSA beneficiaries for another four months from June to September 2022.

According to the Delhi government, it is necessary to have a ration card to get the benefit of the free ration scheme. BPL and ration card holders can take their beneficiary card with them to the ration shop, where they will be provided ration under the free ration scheme. Let us inform that before taking ration from the ration shop, some money had to be paid, but now the candidates can get ration without paying any money. Under the free ration scheme, 5 kg of food grains are provided free of cost to the needy living in the national capital according to the eligibility prescribed under the NFS Act 2013. This includes four kg of wheat and one kg of rice per person per month.
