CM Yogi Adityanath Sets Ambitious Cleanliness and Safety Goals for Chhath Festival

Lucknow: In a recent meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath laid out directives to ensure that the upcoming Chhath Mahaparv becomes a benchmark for cleanliness and safety. Emphasizing the need for special initiatives by the urban development and panchayati raj departments, CM Yogi called for a clean environment throughout the state during the festival’s celebrations and rituals.

He stressed the importance of respecting sentiments by preventing pollution of rivers and reservoirs, urging the conduct of public awareness campaigns against single-use plastics. As devotees gather in the early hours to offer ‘Arghya’ to the rising sun, CM Yogi highlighted the necessity for proper lighting arrangements, cleanliness of ghat areas along rivers, and effective traffic management.

During a review meeting with key officials, the CM proposed organizing a ‘Swachh Ghat’ competition to promote cleanliness statewide during Chhath Mahaparv. Considering the tradition of fireworks, precautions were recommended to avoid crowded areas, with the deployment of plainclothes policemen for security and ensuring uninterrupted electricity supply during festivities.

Additionally, CM Yogi reviewed daily cleanliness procedures in Lucknow and urged officers to decorate all entry points of the state capital. Underlining the importance of the Safe City project, he called for the prompt installation of CCTV cameras across Lucknow, emphasizing their proper utilization. He specifically highlighted the necessity of comprehensive CCTV surveillance along Shaheed Path for enhanced security.

In addressing traffic management, the CM instructed the identification of routes for e-rickshaws and three-wheelers, with a strict prohibition on minors driving e-rickshaws. He also emphasized the need to curb illegal taxi stands from operating.
