Cockroach found in meal served to four-year-old child post surgery at AIIMS in Delhi

A four-year-old child admitted in Delhi AIIMS had an abdominal operation, after that he was given pulses for the first time. AIIMS administration has started investigation.

New Delhi: Such a shocking incident came to fore from Delhi. A four-year-old child admitted to Delhi AIIMS was shocked to find a cockroach in the food served by the hospital. This incident of the country’s most premier medical institute came to light on Monday, when a user on Twitter shared this information in a tweet including photos. AIIMS administration officials immediately ran and started clarifying on social media as well. The AIIMS administration has formed a committee to investigate the whole matter.

Cockroach found in the dal served to him, he claimed, sharing a photo of what seemed like parts of a cockroach on the food tray. The hospital’s administration has initiated a probe into the incident that occurred in the private ward on Sunday night. According to sources, “Pathetic and frightening state of affairs at the most prestigious Medical facility in National Capital- Serving “Cockroach Daal” to a 4 year old as first meal post major stomach surgery @aiims_newdelhi. Shocked beyond belief (sic),” tweeted user Sahil Zaidi.

AIIMS has started investigation and orders probe

According to AIIMS sources, after this tweet, the entire hospital administration became active. The officers immediately started searching for the child. Sources also told that the hospital administration has considered this incident very serious and the work of finding the culprit has been started after investigating the whole matter.

Last month, Dr. M. Srinivas, who took over as the director of AIIMS, read the praises of the hospital. In an interview to sources, he had described AIIMS Delhi as the most prestigious institute in the country and said that ‘good governance’ is the real objective here.

This isn’t the first time AIIMS has faced such allegations. In an earlier incident, an insect was found in the meal served at the doctors’ mess in the hospital.
