Collision between tempo-dumper claims lives of 12 people in Uttar Pradesh; CM condoles death

Shahjahanpur/UP: In a tragic incident, twelve people were killed when a speeding dumper collided with an auto-rickshaw carrying passengers in the early hours of Thursday in Uttar Pradesh’s Shahjahanpur district, police said. The accident was attributed to low visibility due to dense fog, a frequent challenge during the winter months in the region.

The collision unfolded on Farrukhabad road under the Allahganj police station limits. The dumper has been confiscated. All the victims were going for Ganga snan (bath).

According to police official, the dumper hit the auto-rickshaw coming from the Jalalabad side, killing all 12 on the spot. The deceased included women, elderly people and children, he added.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed deep sorrow over the incident and offered condolences to the grieving families.

He has directed officials to prioritise the immediate treatment of the injured and extend all possible assistance to the families of the deceased.
