New Delhi: Breaking news coming from television industry, Veteran comedian-actor Raju Srivastava needs prayers along with medicines. According to sources, he has been put on ventilator after angioplasty. He was admitted to AIIMS yesterday after he developed chest pain and collapsed during a workout at the gym. He later had angioplasty.
A day after stand-up comedian Raju Srivastava suffered a cardiac arrest and was hospitalised, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today dialled his wife Shikha Srivastava and assured her all possible help.
The Chief Minister also instructed officers to extend help to the family of the popular comedian who is reportedly “critical and on ventilator”.
Raju Srivastava, who stayed in a hotel in Delhi, was working out in the gym on Wednesday. Then there was a severe pain in his chest and he fell on the treadmill. Raju was immediately admitted to AIIMS, where he is undergoing treatment in the cardiology department.
As per media reports, he was resuscitated by a team of doctors from the emergency medicine department and was admitted to the cardiac care unit. Srivastava’s angiography showed a 100 per cent blockage in a major vessel.
A team of doctors is continuously monitoring him. Sources say that Raju’s condition remains critical and he needs medicines along with prayers. Raju has several blockages in his heart arteries. Ever since the news of Raju’s illness has surfaced, crores of his fans are in despair and all are praying for his well being.
Apart from TV shows like The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, Comedy Circus, The Kapil Sharma Show, Shaktimaan, Raju Srivastava has also won the hearts of the audience with his performances in many Hindi films. Raju Srivastava, 58, is also a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Before joining the BJP, he had also been in the Samajwadi Party.

Raju Srivastava was born on December 25, 1963 to poet father Ramesh Chandra Srivastav. He aimed to become a comedian since childhood.
Before pursuing his dream, Srivastav played small roles in several Bollywood films such as Maine Pyar Kiya, Mein Prem Ki Deewani Hoon, Baazigar, Bombay To Goa and more.
Srivastav ventured into stand-up comedy with the comedy show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge and was further given the title The King of Comedy in the talent show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge – Champions.
Srivastav is one of the faces of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Centre’s cleanliness programme, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. He has been promoting cleanliness through various events and has shot several music videos for the same.
