Commencement of Veterinary Science College Construction in Gorakhpur Announced by CM Yogi Adityanath

Gorakhpur: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given the green light for the construction of a Veterinary Science College in Gorakhpur, directing the initiation of the project after a detailed review of the project report on Wednesday. The college, affiliated with Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Sciences University and Cow Research Institute in Mathura, aims to provide comprehensive education and research opportunities in veterinary medicine.

Adityanath stressed the significance of this initiative, highlighting its potential to benefit cattle herders from western Bihar and neighboring Nepal. Referring to the ancient ‘Shalihotra Samhita,’ which contains over 12,000 verses guiding veterinary medicine, he emphasized the blend of traditional knowledge and modern advancements in the field. Many youths, he noted, are enthusiastic about pursuing research, study, and teaching in veterinary sciences.

The college, spread across 80 acres in Gorakhpur, will be developed in three phases, featuring essential facilities such as hospital blocks, academic blocks, staff quarters, hostels, and research study centers spanning various disciplines of veterinary science. Adityanath outlined plans for medical facilities, accommodating both large and small animals on different floors for convenience.

Additionally, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of poultry science and the dairy sector, instructing essential research for animal breed improvement. The college campus is designed with a ‘net zero energy’ concept, incorporating modern technology and green architecture principles for a sustainable and eco-friendly environment. Initially, 100 undergraduate students will be admitted, with coordination established with experts from Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary Sciences University and Cow Research Institute, Mathura, to ensure the college is equipped with all necessary services and state-of-the-art facilities.
